I didn't take any

This year was
hands down
better than last years.
Mainly becasue
I wasn't injured.
My runs felt amazing.

Leg 1: straight up hill
to Snowbasin, in the
heat of the day.
When I'd get tired I
just looked up and saw
the mountains which
strengthened me.

Leg 2: 5:ooam 6.5 miler
with no sleep, amazing
how the adrenaline kicks
in. I felt great.

Leg 3: 5 miler through Park
City and across the finish
line. I didn't like the climb
up to the Canyons to get
to the finish line. Felt
completely spent.

Loved being with my sista,
loved meeting new friends,
loved the love tunnel,
Looking forward to doing
it again.

Green River Spring Campout

we like to do a

camping trip down

south before it gets too hot.

mike and i have been to this area since

we were in high school.

this year we went

with a great group of neighborhood friends.

some had to head back early

but at one point there were 40 people!

easter egg hunt

this year,

it was freezing!!!

the kiddos were not too happy

about waiting

ethan was scared when they said "go"

and needed lots or proding

lauren took off and got the most eggs

the eggs were hidden really good for madi's age

group, she found 2, and an old friend,

which made it fun

mike's family

does an easter egg hunt

for the kids

where the eggs have numbers on

them.

each number stands for a prize.

they throw in a few gag prizes

just for fun.

well lauren got the onion,

and didn't think it was so great.

and the adults got an egg hunt too,

this year mike won the

grand prize

$25 big ones!

A New Year

I love how with a new year, comes the feeling of renewal, a fresh new start.

I have lots of areas that need a new start.

I just saw Julie and Julia, and was inspired to give my cooking a new start.

I really don't enjoy cooking.

I don't know why, but it stresses me out to no end.

So, I'm making an effort (the word goal sounds too official)

to make 1 to 2 new dishes a week.

My kids would die if we took

out pasta, pizza, or burritos. They may be able to handle 2 new

things, maybe.

I'm trying to go with the philosophy of the parent decides what to

serve and the child decides how much.

Tell me what you love to cook for your family. I'm going to need lots of help.

Second Week of December: Yurt Trip

Over the weekend we hiked into a Yurt in the Uinta Mountains.

We usually do it after christmas, but this year we thought we'd combine

chopping down our tree and staying at the Yurt.

i can focus on e, newest nickname

is beefan, nice one dad.

i remember having this time with tiny when big

sis was in school all day. it was a precious

time for the both of us.

big sis got it for 3 years before she was dethroned.

they've all had a turn.

this is why my kiddies are so spaced out, so each

could get a turn.

The girls started school this week!

To celebrate the beginning of

a new school year

we had a special dinner

for the Queen of 4th grade

and the Queen of 1st grade

The girls picked the menu:
popcorn chicken
fried mozarella sticks
mashed potatoes
cooked carrots
raspberry apple juice
and
yellow cake with chocolate butter cream frosting

homemade vanilla ice cream.

Mike gave all the children and me a blessing.

Neff's Canyon

Vorkink Family Reunion: Ouray Colorado

we just spent a week in beautiful Ouray Colorado

with the Vorkink clan.

highlights include:

riding the telluride gondola to the top of a stunning mtn,

swimming in the ouray hot springs,

hiking to box canyon and seeing the most powerful waterfall,

swimming at dutch charles resevoir,

staying up way to late laughing,

grandkids flarping,

white elephant gift exchange,

(I scored: ben and jerry's ice cream and bath and body shea butter foot cream and socks- ooh ya)

and hearing grandpa tell stories,

good times!!

the pritchard girls

and mama started a retreat.

this was our second summer

and now i must say that i'm damn lucky to

have my sisters, all 9 (katie too) of them.

and a mom who was brave enough to have

us.

SLC 1/2 Marathon

Yesterday I ran 13.1 miles through slc with 2 of my buds,

Kiyo and Leslie T.

and thousands of others.

It was a blast!

I felt real good and I'm just a little sore today.

We ran right by Blaine from

"Biggest Loser".

Leslie and I got a little

star struck

and gave him a big

thumbs up.

He said "thanks" and smiled

at us.

He was probably bugged

but we thought it was pretty cool.

Thanks Jenny for letting us use your bathroom

instead of the porta-potty, nice upgrade.

I really want to do a full one in Sept!!

April Fools Day on me!

I drove Maddie to school with the van like this, cans rattling in

the back and all.

She said, "this is the most embarressing day of my life".

The inside was filled with blue balloons,

which Ethan loved.

I wonder who did it?

Daddy did!

It's okay we got him back with a pepper,

A Night At the Opera

Madi's class wrote and produced an opera.

She was the "Queen Ant"!

Both sets of Grandparents and 2 Aunties made

it for the production.

Vorkink Family Council

Over the weekend we drove down to St. George for our first annual

Vorkink Family Council

It consisted of:

workshops,

activities,

spotlights,

cheers,

snacks,

and

snacks.

We basically talked about what our family means to us.

It was great fun,

even though Mike was sick with the rotten flu I had the previous week

and me and Lauren spent 3 hours in the instacare for an ear infection.

Next year will be even healthier, I mean better.

Of course

I used mint chocolate chips. Design Your Own Chocolate Cookie Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda

(I used 2 cups mint chocolate chips)

Directions:1. Heat oven to 375°F.2. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and salt in large bowl until creamy. Add eggs; beat well.3. Stir together flour, cocoa and baking soda; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. About 5 dozen cookies.

Just a few days prior to this incident I was having a conversation with Mike whether or not we should renew our AAA membership.

I was leaning towards cancelling it.

Than this happened:

I was flat on my back sick in bed yesterday while

my dear hubbie was busy getting things done around the house.

He was even cleaning my car, thats when the doorbell rang.

I stumbled out of bed and my neighbor is laughing saying

Ethan has locked himself in the car.

What?

Sure enough there is my baby in the car as happy as can be

with the car keys and a frustrated dad just looking at him.

While Mike was busy cleaning the outside/inside of the car he had let Ethan play inside

the car, no harm in that.

But he closed the door to do some finishing touches, and Ethan loves to push the lock button on my keys because it makes a noise, so smart!

Thus, Ethan locked himself in the car with the only set of keys we have.

Brilliant!

So I give AAA a call, 10 minutes later, Ethan is safe in our arms.

Thanks AAA the renewal is in the mail!

Daylight Savings

I'm not sure how I feel about this Daylight Savings Biz.

Sure it's great when summer comes around and we can all

enjoy those splended evenings.

But today rocked our schedule.

I had no idea how important 1 hour is.

Ethan's naps and bedtime are all wrong.

Which means he'll be waking up tomorrow at 6:00am.

Dang, I better get to bed now.

Sore Knee

Yesterday me and my buds went for a long run.

I ran 11.2 miles, yipee!!

It felt pretty good, except my knee is killing.

I got new shoes and orthotics.

I was really hoping

that would solve the problem.

Oh well guess it's gonna be

Updates with no new pics:

Ethan: got a haircut at Cookie Cutters and screamed bloody murder the entire time. Just had to give a generous tip. Woke up one morning and instead of screaming he said "mama", oh finally, music to my ears. Ethan thinks that anything wrapped up in plastic has sweet insides, including moms pads from when I had him.

Lauren: is still playing the violin and goes to dance class. But she would rather to play, play, play outside with all her buds.

Maddie: (has changed the spelling of her name) is also a social bug. The first thing she asks when she walks through the door, "Mom, can I have a playdate?" She is still playing the piano, and busy with school work.

Me: crocheting like crazy for the Spring Boutique. Oh, you havn't heard! Well it's the:
